Blooming in the Garden are pink and blue hyacinths, bearded white irises, yellow freesias and daffodils and golden trumpets sending intoxicating smells into the air
The Garden of Grace is a scented paradise at this time of year. The delicate fragrances of pink and blue hyacinths intermingling with yellow freesias, white bearded iris, yellow daffodils, and golden trumpets can be quite intoxicating!

Welcome to Eyes on Christ, a weekly letter, every Wednesday from my heart to yours. I'm a story-gardener, cultivating personal tales that blossom into insights on spirituality, culture, nature, and our constantly evolving world. An explorer-writer, I intertwine ancient wisdom and modern curiosities for a journey of self-discovery. As always, thanks for reading.

It’s still winter here in So Cal and my garden and I are enjoying the unexpected rains. A little light gardening in rain boots and a lot of breathing in the perfumed air of scented blooms is quite heady! It enhances the appeal of the winter season of Lent, a tradition of forty days of fasting and praying, that model Jesus’ forty days in the desert (Matthew 4: 1-2). Today’s fasts of the happy followers of Jesus often go beyond food. Some give up social media. Some also add charity - a generous giving of time, money and self - to their Lenten season. Some naturally extend prayer time and stillness before God. We’re mid-way through Lent, and so, this is a good time to look at FOMO, fear of missing out. I illustrate FOMO in a short story. Enjoy!

I have friends who suffer FOMO nearly every day, who almost never say no… who try to cram in as much activity and social scene-steering as possible so they can build up an enormous repository of fantastic memories, friends…
