The Apple of Big Dreams and Anna apple blossoms in the Garden of Grace
‘The Apple of Big Dreams’ in the Garden of Grace, March 12, 2024

March 13, 2024. Vol. 17, Issue 12.

Welcome to Eyes on Christ, a weekly letter, every Wednesday from my heart to yours. I'm a story-gardener, cultivating personal tales that blossom into insights on spirituality, culture, nature, and our constantly evolving world. An explorer-writer, I intertwine ancient wisdom and modern curiosities for a journey of self-discovery. As always, thanks for reading.

After fasting forty days and forty nights, he [Jesus] was hungry…

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

We’re in the season of Lent, a time of fasting, extended prayer, and giving, and in my own unique way, we’re exploring the global trend of spiritual and well-being travel. Bur first, I want to point out how cool that we’re now joined by our Muslim brothers and sisters in Ramadan Mubarak / Ramadan Kareem. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, a holy month of fasting, prayer, and giving. Mubarak means blessed and Kareem means generous. In 2024, Ramadan began March 10 and will end April 9.

We’re going on another journey, and this time indulging in a blend of scents and flavors!

One of my unforgettable memories is the delectable taste of forbidden sweet apples! These, my very first apples, came from the Himalayan ranges nestled Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh (India). Often referred to as the Valley of the Gods, this region is renowned for its stunning landscapes adorned with forests of deodar (the wood of the Gods) and pine, framed by snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Amidst its exceptional backcountry skiing and snowboarding opportunities, the Kullu Valley boasts many sites of pilgrimage, and abundant apple orchards.
