A Double Delight rose blooming in the Garden of Grace

Thomas Moore’s poem The Last Rose of Summer, is world famous. The last rose pines alone in the garden. All the others have faded away. Two unusual translations of the poem are in Japanese and Thai. Moore’s Come, Ye Disconsolate, a hymn is not so well-known but the line, Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal is from there. The Presbyterian Glory to God hymnal does not have this hymn. However, it is listed in other hymnals (United Methodist, AME, Baptist), and is popular with younger people. Today’s reflection includes photos from the Garden of Grace and Longwood Gardens.
