Welcome new readers! Today’s parable has been percolating for a long time. I completed it, with help from a friend, on Sat 09/23/23, the first day of fall. Happy Fall!

A young avocado plant flowers, then almost dies but with tender care, it begins to grow again. The elder avocado tree, thriving but produces no fruits.A young avocado plant flowers, then almost dies but with tender care, it begins to grow again. A young avocado plant flowers, then almost dies, but with tender care, it begins to grow again. The elder avocado tree, thriving but has producing no fruits.

A homeowner planted an avocado tree in the common area in front of her home. The diligent homeowner watered and fertilized it regularly and the tree grew big and strong. For seven years it bore no fruit but the homeowner cared for it anyway. Seven years later, the tree began to bear fruit. The generous homeowner invited neighbors and friends to share in the fruits. One neighbor was especially touched by her generosity. But the day came when the homeowner of the tree sold her home and moved away. A new family moved in. The friendly neighbor began to care for the tree.
